The Cross is recognized as the first Doom Metal band in Brazil, founded in Salvador - Bahia by Eduardo "Slayer" Mota in 1990, with sound and style inspired by bands such as Black Sabbath, Candlemass and Trouble. In 1992 the first Rehearsal was released, and in 1993 the first DEMO was recorded, entitled ‘The Fall’, distributed by the French label Holy Rec, Adipocere Rec and the North American label Moribund Rec for two years, then came a new Rehearsal, entitled ‘Peregrination’, in 1994, also distributed by Holy Rec.

After 8 years since the birth of The Cross and a great impact with recorded works and great shows such as Garage Rock, 1994 playing alongside the band Amen Corner, the band had some problems and split up in 1998. In 2015, almost 20 years after the band's depart, The Cross returns with an EP titled ‘Flames Through Priests’, and the debut album came in 2017, ‘The Cross’, rated by Whiplash as one of the top 10 records of the decade. In 2019 the new EP called ‘Still Falling’ was released, rated by Roadie Crew and Whiplash as one of the best releases of 2019. Also in 2019 the band announced their new member Daniel Fauaze, to take over the guitars alongside Paulo Monteiro, and then, was invited to Novembers Doom Brazillian Tribute, playing their version of the song "Within My Flesh", which was praised directly by the band Novembers Doom in their video React. In 2020 was released the official DVD ‘Live Endless Fall’ recorded at Palco do Rock Festival, soon after, the single ‘Unnatural’ was released being the song that marks the transition for a new age of the band. In November 2020 the band made a tribute to Elly Brandão (R.I.P.), a great partner of the band and former guitarist, who died while working on the album THE CROSS, 2017, releasing the track 'Elly Tales (Part 1)' right after, releasing the second part of this tribute entitled 'Elly Tales (Part 2)', adding keyboard lines composed by Vinícius Campos, (Ex: Hate Embrace, Seeds Of Destiny, Phantasma Nocturna, Mortem Funere), tribute that the band extends to all victims of COVID-19. The same track was present on the Reverencing the Eternal Icons EP, alongside re-readings of the songs The Fever Sea (My Dying Bride) and Within My Flesh (Novembers Doom).

In 2021 the band announced the guests for the upcoming album ‘Act II: Walls of the Forgotten’: Albert Bell, Aka ''Dr Doom'' (Forsaken, Sacro Sanctus), recording the bass lines on the 6 tracks of the album, Achraf Loudiy (Aeternam) recording vocal lines on the track ‘Beyond the Eyes of Seth’, Leo Stivala (Forsaken) recording vocal lines on the track ‘Umbral’, and the great Aaron Stainthorpe (My Dying Bride) recording vocal lines on the track ’Walls of the Forgotten’. Soon after, the band announced its newest member, bassist Leandro Kastiphas, a musician consecrated in the Brazilian underground, having integrated big bands like Mystifier and Eternal Sacrifice, being part of important shows and great tours not only in Brazil, but also Germany, Chile, Colombia and Peru. In May 2021, already with the process of recording the album Act II: Walls of the Forgotten in full swing, the band released the cover art of the first single, ‘Behind the Stone Gate’. In July 2021, the band released the new version of the song "Flames of Deceit" on Quarentine Sessions format, with the band playing the track on a “home made music video”. Right after, it was announced the participation in the Compilations: 4 Ways to Die (SPLIT) with the bands Aura Hiemis (Chile), Sepultus Est (Peru) and Funeris (Argentina); Brazilian Doom Metal, The Power of Doom Metal Bahia, Renegades From Hell and Earth (Europe) and The Gates of Brazilian Metal Scene Vol. IV. In November 2021, the band released their first music video, ‘Sonnenstein Castle".

In the year 2022, the long-awaited Act II: Ways of the forgotten was released, on May 27, by the European label Pitch Black Records, which also released the Lyric Video for the song Umbral, and the music video for the song Behind the Stone Gate.
