The Cross is recognized as the first Doom Metal band in Brazil, founded in Salvador - Bahia by Eduardo "Slayer" Mota in 1990, with sound and style inspired by bands such as Black Sabbath, Candlemass and Trouble. In 1992 the first Rehearsal was released, and in 1993 the first DEMO was recorded, entitled ‘The Fall’, distributed by the French label Holy Rec, Adipocere Rec and the North American label Moribund Rec for two years, then came a new Rehearsal, entitled ‘Peregrination’, in 1994, also distributed by Holy Rec.
After 8 years since the birth of The Cross and a great impact with recorded works and great shows such as Garage Rock, 1994 playing alongside the band Amen Corner, the band had some problems and split up in 1998. The same track was present on the Reverencing the Eternal Icons EP, alongside re-readings of the songs The Fever Sea (My Dying Bride) and Within My Flesh (Novembers Doom).
In 2021 the band announced the guests for the upcoming album ‘Act II: Walls of the Forgotten’: Albert Bell, Aka ''Dr Doom'' (Forsaken, Sacro Sanctus), recording the bass lines on the 6 tracks of the album, Achraf Loudiy (Aeternam) recording vocal lines on the track ‘Beyond the Eyes of Seth’, Leo Stivala (Forsaken) recording vocal lines on the track ‘Umbral’, and the great Aaron Stainthorpe (My Dying Bride) recording vocal lines on the track ’Walls of the Forgotten’.
